At BGEF, we’re pioneering a dual-use land solution — combining solar power generation with crop production through agrophotovoltaics. Our research explores how solar panels can be installed above farmland so that farmers can grow crops underneath while the panels generate clean electricity. Early studies in Bangladesh show that with optimized design, the shading from panels has only a minimal impact on crop yield and can deliver energy income alongside agriculture. By deploying APV systems, we aim to boost land-use efficiency, increase farmer income, and accelerate the transition to renewable energy in rural communities.
